Introduction to Every Day Carry (EDC)
Some of you may be asking yourselves, “What do you mean when you say Every Day Carry?” The simple answer is Every Day Carry is all of the things that you keep on your person every day. Whether that be in your pockets, on your belt, or in your backpack that you carry with you. But Every Day Carry as a concept is more than just making sure you have your phone, wallet and keys before you leave the house.

Every Day Carry as a concept is the things that you keep on your person, but looking at those items through the lens of being the most prepared, practical and efficient as you possibly can.
The items you have with you should give you the peace of mind of knowing that you will have the tools on hand to handle almost any situation and have those items not be a burden to carry constantly.
Getting Started
So now you’ve decided you want to try your hand at EDC, where do you start? As previously mentioned, you likely already carry your phone, wallet and keys with you every day, so why not start by enhancing some of those items? Why not add a key sized tool to your keychain so you can have easy access to a screwdriver or prybar at a moment’s notice? Why not get a key organizer to stop your keys from jingling and jangling and be more organized? Why not make that old bulky wallet a more streamlined, slim version you can keep comfortably in your front pocket? Why not get a wallet with RFID blocking capability to stop bad actors from getting your information?

Something like what is described above is a common starting point, but certainly not an end-all-be-all. Many people who practice EDC add pocket knives, multi-tools, watches and more to their EDC “loadouts” and tinker with what fits their needs. Another fun aspect of EDC is after you decide what tools and equipment you like to have on you every day, trying to get a matching theme for all of that gear. Examples include all black, carbon fiber, topographic designs, all brass and more, making EDC not only a practical practice, but also a creative one that helps you express your style.
